How do the leagues work?
Leagues are weekly competitions between 32 users. You earn points by practicing, and the top players move up to a higher league each week.
1.Check your leaderboard
Each week, you compete against other users in a weekly league that runs from Sunday to Sunday. Complete one lesson to join. Complete lessons and practice your takeaways to earn stars and climb the rankings.
2.Finish near the top
Every Sunday, you'll see where you placed. The top 10 users move up to the next league.
3.If you go down a league
Finishing in the bottom two means you move down one league. However, every week is a new opportunity to climb back up.
4.How a league is set up
- Each league has 32 users.
- At the end of the week, the top 10 move up.
- The bottom 2 move down, except in the lowest league.
- You win 7–20 gems, depending on where you finish.
5.Ways to earn stars
- Start and complete a lesson
- Use the Daily Word in your conversation
- Get perfect pronunciation or grammar
- Practice in the Practice tab
- Move up a league or level up

Standings refresh once your lesson is fully submitted — give it a minute. Leagues reset Sunday at midnight UTC.
If you're in the Gold league
Gold is the highest league. Finish in the top 10 and you stay in Gold the next week.
