How do streaks work?

A streak counts how many days in a row you have completed at least one lesson. Complete one lesson every day to keep your streak going. Miss a day and it resets to zero.

  1. 1.Open your streak overview screen

On the Home tab, tap the flame at the top left. The overview screen shows your current streak, longest streak, and progress toward your next milestone or goal.

  2. 2.Keep it going with one lesson a day

Complete one lesson each calendar day in your local timezone. Extra lessons the same day don’t replace tomorrow’s streak day.

  3. 3.Set a streak goal

You can set a streak goal at the end of a lesson, or anytime from the overview screen: tap Set goal next to Streak goal. Reach your goal to earn gems.

  4. 4.Missed a day? Repair your streak

If you skip one day, your home screen shows “Keep your streak alive” with a Repair button. Repair restores your streak on the spot. You can also repair it from the overview screen.

Why streaks help you learn

Streaks work mainly because they turn practice into a habit, and habits are what make regular, spaced-out practice actually happen. A few things are at play:

Streaks build habits. Habit research shows that repeating a behavior in a consistent context gradually makes it automatic. A streak gives you a reason to show up every day during that early period, before the habit is set.

Streaks encourage spaced practice. Spreading practice over time leads to better learning than cramming (see Does AI really work for language learning?). Streaks nudge you toward exactly that pattern: a little every day rather than a lot occasionally.

Streaks make progress visible. Language learning is slow, and improvement in speaking is hard to see from one day to the next. A growing streak gives you a concrete sign that you’re making progress, which helps keep you motivated through the plateaus.

Streaks tap into commitment. Once you have a streak going, you won’t want to lose it. That small sense of investment can be enough to get you to practice on days you otherwise wouldn’t.

If you reached your streak goal

After hitting a goal, Loora offers to set a new one right on the celebration screen — pick the next milestone or skip for now.

If your streak reset unexpectedly
