What tools are available during a conversation?
Every icon on the conversation screen is there to help you keep talking, understand more, and review what you said. Here is what each one does.
At the top of the screen
- Video call icon 🎥 Brings Loora's avatar into the conversation, so it feels closer to a face-to-face video call. Tap it again to close the avatar.
- Expand the avatar ↕ When the avatar is showing in a small window, tap the expand icon to make it full screen, and tap again to shrink it back. The avatar is optional and you can close it at any time.
- Daily word (book icon) 📖 Tap the book icon to see the daily word again at any point during the lesson, together with its meaning, explanation, and pronunciation.
- Captions on / off [CC] Turn the on-screen text of Loora's messages on or off. With captions off you only hear Loora, which is excellent listening practice. Turn them back on whenever you want to read along.
At the bottom of the screen
- Suggested Reply 💡 Loora suggests a ready-made answer you can use or adapt. Tap the play button ▶️ to send it, or use it as inspiration and add your own words. Great for beginners who get stuck.
- How to Say it in English 🛟 Tap this when you get stuck. Type what you want to say in your own language and get the English translation instantly. This is one of the best ways to expand your vocabulary naturally — you are learning words you actually need, right when you need them.
- Change Topic #️⃣ Feeling stuck or want to talk about something different? Tap this to switch topics at any point during the conversation. Try a new topic each day to build vocabulary across different areas of life.
- Microphone toggle Switches between Push-to-Talk and Hands-Free. In Push-to-Talk you hold the microphone button while you speak. In Hands-Free you simply talk, and Loora starts and stops the recording on its own.
