What tools are available during a conversation?
During your conversations with Loora, you have several helpful tools at the bottom of your screen to enhance your learning experience.
1. How to Say it in English (Lifesaver)
Stuck and don't know how to express yourself? We've got you.
It's completely normal to get stuck mid-conversation. Instead of giving up or switching to simple words, use this feature to learn exactly how to say what you're thinking.
How to use it:
- Tap the lifesaver icon
- Type what you want to say in your native language
- Get the English translation
- Use it in your conversation and learn a new expression!
💡 Tip: This is one of the best ways to expand your vocabulary naturally - you're learning words you actually need, right when you need them.
2. Change Topic
Keep your conversations fresh and interesting.
Feeling like the conversation is getting stale? Want to explore new vocabulary in different areas? The Change Topic feature lets you instantly shift to subjects that interest you.
How to use it:
Tap the hashtag icon and choose from topics like Technology, Science, Business, Movies, Music, Travel, and more.
💡 Tip: Try a new topic each day to build vocabulary across different areas of life.
3. Recording Mode (Microphone)
Your main way to talk with Loora.
The large center button is your microphone - tap it to speak and have a conversation with Loora.
4. Recording Settings
Speak your way, hands-free or not.
Choose how you want to record your responses based on your situation.
Two options:
- Push-to-talk: Tap and hold the microphone while speaking, release when done
- Hands-free: Tap once to start, Loora automatically detects when you stop speaking - no need to touch your phone during the entire conversation
💡 Tip: Use hands-free mode when cooking, exercising, or driving - practice English while doing other things!
5. Daily Word
Build your vocabulary one word at a time.
Each day, you get a new word to learn and use. The Daily Word appears when you enter your daily lesson, so you know which word to try and include in your conversation.
Forgot the word? Tap the book icon to see today's word again, including its meaning and example sentences.
💡 Tip: Successfully using the Daily Word in your conversation earns you 5 gems!
