We have some news. But really, who better to tell you than Loora herself.

So yes, we’ve raised $22m which takes our total funds raised to $43.25m. We’re delighted to partner with Union Tech Ventures who led the round, with participation from vgames and existing investors Emerge, Hearst Ventures and QP Ventures.

But what Yonti and I really care about is that this investment helps us advance our mission of opening the door to opportunity - personal or professional - for the 1.5 billion people learning English.

English fluency is one of the least talked-about barriers to opportunity and one of the most reliable predictors of advancement on the planet. Think of all the job opportunities that are closed to you if you don’t speak fluent English? Until now, access to high-quality instruction has been deeply unequal. The average online human tutor costs $15-$50 an hour which is simply out of reach for many learners. That’s why we created Loora.

Five years in, we’re on a roll. 15 million learners, 200 million interactions with Loora. Revenue’s more than doubled in the last twelve months and ARR is in the tens of millions. More than 100 corporations, governments and universities are also now using the B2B product we built over the last year.

Loora is an AI company at its core. Building a language-learning experience that genuinely drives fluency means much more than connecting learners to a frontier model. We’ve built one of the world’s largest datasets focused on English-language acquisition, creating a data flywheel from hundreds of millions of real interactions that helps us understand what actually drives retention and fluency. That’s what allows us to keep making Loora more personal and effective.

So what next? Come and find out! We are growing our team from 30 to 60 in the next six months, with much of that growth in AI research and engineering. If you’re a talented AI Researcher or Engineer and want to help make English tuition accessible to far more people, we want to hear from you.

None of this would be possible without the most incredible team. To everybody at Loora who has worked tirelessly to push boundaries in their area of expertise and beyond; to every learner and customer who has trusted us; and to our investors for their support, belief and network — thank you for helping us build the company we believe can define this category.
